Paige climbed a flight of stairs in physical therapy with just a spotter, leaving behind the three step stair in the gym.  Her occupational therapy included a walk to the gift shop, where she was asked to memorize opening and closing times and prices on items.  Paige apparently got diverted in the earring section...

Her tutoring began today.  She spent the first part of the session talking about her Kent teachers and how great they are, and how much she misses them.  She gave details on each of them, even describing Mr. DesMarais' bow tie day and pink shirt Thursdays.

They then moved on to reading from Langston Hughes' Thank You, M'am.  Paige watched the evening news and discussed the Daschle debacle.

The Burke consulting orthopaedic surgeon reviewed Paige's x-rays and looked at her clavicle. He told her that it should heal well, but that she would have a bump for a souvenir that could be fixed later by a plastic surgeon.  Paige opted for the time being to keep the souvenir.

Paige has asked that we print out the blog and all the comments.  In due course, your comments will be her chronicle of support through this misadventure.

  1. Paige,

It's amazing to hear about your progress, all the hard work is clearly paying off! You have always been one of the most resilient people I know, full of energy and silliness and enthusiasm that I know has helped you face these challenges bravely. Dan Nassar, Matt Amsterdam, Garaufis, Rob and I were all together the other night, (Dan keeps telling me not to worry about you, that you're strong, and I know he's right) we're rooting for you!
    Good luck girl!

  4. Dear Paige,

I love reading this blog every morning and learning about all the wonderful progress you are making. I admire your determination and strength. You cannot even imagine how it lifts so many spirits!! Now, speaking of lifting spirits.....I was planning on driving up to Loomis today by myself, listening to Whitney's ipod, a nice leisurely drive on a sunny day bounding up rt. 91 with sandwiches and drinks for the gang...not any more!!! I thought Christian and Whitney were happy to hear from you, well now I have to pick up Mr. Crazy Man at noon!!! Barret is spinning like a top this morning. He was sooooooo excited to read your email this morning! The KO kids will be so happy when today's meet is over, because he is going to be booming "Let's Go Blue!" "Here We Go KENT!" and on an on all afternoon! You certainly made an old guys day!! We cheer you on day and night and will cheer extra loud for you today--you may even hear him all the way in White Plains! The team is doing great. Lyman Ambrose tells me she always swims faster when she swims in Paige's spot! The whole team misses you and do their best to make you proud. Keep up all the good hard healing you are doing. We can't wait to come for a visit some time soon. All my love and prayers-

  10. Good Girl Paige! I see your memory serves you well in the area of shopping...a quick diversion perusing the earring section of the Burke gift shop takes skill. YAY for YOU!
I spoke to Elsa who is thrilled that you are TXT-ing again.Use of yet another important skill...another YAY for YOU! And one last YAY for YOU on your study skills...good luck with the beginnings of tutoring with your Kent teachers. Smart, smart Paige!

  14. Dear Paige Parade,
Once again Paige has made another appearance on the Kent campus. I recieved an email from Paige asking me to head to Loomis this afternoon to cheer the swim team on in her behalf.Who could say no to such a request?! The Loomis pool allows spectators very close proximity to the team and both the girls and boys had me text Paige with constant updates. The Kent team put forth a memorable effort for Paige their coaches and themselves. Both teams earned well fought victories. It was an honor to represent Paige's voice as she continues to work on her recovery.

Paige, your concern for your team and teammates is an example in selflesness for the entire Kent community to learn from. All miss you and all are proud to call you a friend. As Kim said to your Dad a couple of week ago half the school want to be your best friend and the other half wants to be your boyfriend. Lucky Ryan!

Have a peaceful night. We will talk again tomorrow.

    Barret

  16. Dear Paige, Laurie and George,
I find myself checking the blog in the morning to hear of your progress and checking again in the evening to see who has written you. What a testimony it is to your personality and character that you have friends far and wide! Everyone who knows you has enjoyed your spirit and now we all are collectively sending you a bit of ourselves everyday to help you recover and return to us. We are trying to be patient but it is hard. Not as hard perhaps as what you are doing but hard nonetheless. We look for you in the dorm, in the classroom and in the pool. You may not be with us physically but we carry your spirit inside us. I'm glad to know that your ribs are still strong because they will be tested by a million hugs when we see you again at school. love and HUGS, Ms.M

  18. GOOD MORNING, PAIGEY! I TOO GO RIGHT TO THE BLOG, AS SOON AS I COME DOWN IN THE MORNING, TO SEE WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN UP TO ON THE PREVIOUS DAY. FOR WHILE I GET THESE QUICK GLIMPSES OF YOU, THERE ISN'T TIME TO CATCH UP ON ALL YOUR DOINGS.
KNOWING HOW BURKE WORKS YOU HARD EVERY MINUTE OF YOUR DAY WITH THERAPY, I'M IMPRESSED THAT YOU WERE STILL ABLE TO 'BE WITH YOUR TEAM' AND CHEER THEM ON TO VICTORY YESTERDAY. WHAT A GAL YOU ARE! BUT THEN, WE'VE KNOWN THAT EVER SINCE YOU WERE BORN!
WE LOVE YOUO SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH! MOPSIE
